CHRISTIAN RECORDING ARTIST TURNED HERETIC PUNK
Make no mistake about it, The American Heretics have arrived on the music scene! Their tunes and their messages are already making waves. The sound is contagious. Lead singer, Matt Scott's vocals are raw, smokey, and piercing. The drum beats are blistering and the guitars drive the whole train down the tracks. Scott, a former worship pastor and Christian recording artist, has fully embraced his apostasy. On the debut EP, “Strike a Match,” There is no mistaking where he stands on the big issues. Substance abuse, sex, and politics are some of the themes found in his lyrics. He is hell-bent on upending the unholy trinity of Christian Nationalism, capitalism, and racism. As a member of the deconstruction community and an outcast of the church, Scott speaks out. He doesn't shy away from anything. "There has been real harm caused to society by the American Evangelical movement," he says. "Its union with far-right politics is disgusting". The EP is a strong effort from the newcomers. The American Heretics' rebellious punk rock heart manages to shine through. And it does so while still presenting a memorable offering of clever pop-rock tunes. "Strike a Match EP" is sure to have you singing along, banging your head, and ready to burn some shit down!
