The American Heretics was born out of a desire to challenge societal norms and provoke thought through music that reflects the complexities of modern life. We aim to blend diverse musical influences and our love of punk rock while addressing themes of social justice, personal struggle, and the human experience. We believe in using our music as a platform for dialogue, encouraging listeners to question the status quo and embrace their individuality. Our mission is to create a community through our music, where creativity and authenticity thrive, and where everyone feels empowered to express their own truth.
CHRISTIAN RECORDING ARTIST TURNED HERETIC PUNK
Make no mistake about it, The American Heretics have arrived on the music scene! Their tunes and their messages are already making waves. The sound is contagious. Lead singer, Matt Scott's vocals are raw, smokey, and piercing. The drum beats are blistering and the guitar duo of Sean Ciccione and Scott, drives the whole train down the tracks. Scott, a formerly signed Artist of Firma Music Group, has seen national radio play as well as songs hitting the Billboard charts. However, since leaving Evangelicalism and his former Christian label, he has hit the “reset” button on his music career. The American Heretics is that reset.
Having already released a slew of covers and three original singles, The American Heretics' rebellious punk rock heart manages to shine through. And it does so while still presenting a memorable offering of clever pop-rock. Their latest single, “Cult” is sure to have you singing along, banging your head, and ready to burn some shit down!
The American Heretics are hell-bent on upending the unholy trinity of Christian Nationalism, capitalism, and racism. As former members of the evangelical movement and now outsiders to the church, they don’t shy away from the big issues. Substance abuse, sex, religion, racism, and politics are some of the themes found in Scott’s lyrics. "There has been real harm caused to society by the American Evangelical movement," he says. "Its union with far-right politics is disgusting".
Anyone who wants to see a more equitable and just society, free from religious control, will connect with this band and their message.
